Separatist Abkhazian Official on Possible Annexation of Abkhazia by Russia

Sergei Shamba, the de-facto Secretary of the Security Council of separatist Abkhazia, said that information about Russia's possible annexation of Abkhazia is inaccurate. He commented on the relevant assumptions that appeared after it became known about the visit of de-facto President Aslan Bzhania to Moscow.
"Such issues are not resolved this way - the president went, and we returned as part of Russia. This is a criminal responsibility for raising such issues in general," the de-facto head of the Abkhaz Security Council said.
Shamba said the president left for Moscow on a working visit. "He has a meeting with the Security Council. I also have to leave one of these days; we are preparing an action plan for joint actions," Shamba added. "The only thing we cannot agree to and even discuss is the loss of sovereignty, independence, and statehood," the head of the Abkhazian Security Council stated.
According to him, Sokhumi has not yet received offers to join any union formation with Russia. "This would not imply a loss of sovereignty, but he emphasized that no such proposals exist," the separatist official added. "We only heard from officials that the recognition of Abkhazia is not subject to revision," Shamba concluded.
