
Separatist President Bzhania Sets Ambitious Goals for Abkhazia in 2024

During an extended meeting on January 26, Aslan Bzhania, the de-facto President of the separatist Abkhazia, outlined the priority work areas for all branches of power in Abkhazia for 2024.
Bzhania emphasized the need to strengthen the vertical of power, stating, "The time from the moment a decision is made to its implementation should be significantly reduced." He highlighted the importance of strengthening defense capability and underscored that a strong economy is essential for achieving this goal. The de-facto President of the separatist Abkhazia instructed the defense minister to utilize maximum resources, including those from the strategic partner, Russia, stating, "It is important to clearly own the situation, to control it, as they call it, on the ground."
Bzhania stressed the significance of dynamic agricultural development for bolstering the country's economy, emphasizing the need to bring agriculture to a new level by cultivating new subcultures. Addressing Agriculture Minister Beslan Dzhopua, he remarked, "The land has always been a breadwinner. We must not allow fields to be overgrown with weeds."
Transport infrastructure development, particularly the construction of Sokhumi airport, was highlighted as a priority by Bzhania. He called upon all present parties to assist in realizing this project, emphasizing its strategic importance for enhancing the country's economic component.
Addressing the issue of unemployment, the de-facto head of separatist Abkhazia emphasized the urgent need for job creation, stating, "An unemployed person becomes easy prey for the ill-wishers of our country, he is vulnerable and easily manipulated. Business must be done."
