
US Diplomat Visits Armenia

The US special envoy responsible for Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations has visited Armenia and Azerbaijan. These visits aimed to engage in further discussions regarding a prospective peace agreement between the two countries.
On May 26, the diplomat Louis Bono held meetings with several key figures in Armenia, including PM Nikol Pashinyan, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, and Armenia’s Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan.
According to Pashinyan's office, during the meeting with Louis Bono, he presented the ‘Armenian side’s perspectives and approaches’ regarding the resolution of the significant outstanding issues. No further details were provided regarding these approaches' specific content or nature.
As the Armenian Foreign Ministry reports, Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan and Louis Bono discussed the “normalization process” between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the remaining differences between the two parties. During the meeting, Mirzoyan emphasized the significance of key principles, including the non-use of force, ensuring border security, and establishing an internationally guaranteed mechanism for dialogue between Baku and the leadership of Nagorno-Karabakh.
As the Security Council readout says, the US Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations and the Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, Louis Bono and Armen Grigoryan, discussed issues related to the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, delimitation, and border security, and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
