US Embassy Launches $3.4 Million Simulator to Enhance Armenian Nuclear Plant Safety
On June 4, Kristina Kvien, the US Ambassador to Armenia, announced that the US Embassy had contributed to enhancing the safety of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant through the launch of a new simulator, reaffirming Washington’s long-standing cooperation with Yerevan in the nuclear sector.
During the announcement, shared on the embassy’s social media platforms, Kvien expressed her pleasure in participating in the commissioning of a modern $3.4 million simulator designed to support the safe operation of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant. She emphasized that the project, developed in partnership with the US Department of Energy, enables the plant to incorporate advanced American technologies into its operations.
Kvien noted that this development marks "another milestone in over 25 years of US cooperation with Armenia in the field of nuclear energy." The initiative aligns with the Armenian Ministry of Energy’s efforts to upgrade the simulator as the country progresses toward selecting a contractor for the construction of new nuclear reactors.
