US Welcomes Pashinyan's Commitment to Peace and Aliyev's Possible Amnesty of Separatist Authorities in Karabakh

The US welcomed the recent statements of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev regarding amnesty and thanked Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for his commitment to peace, the US State Department reported.
According to Matthew Miller, the Spokesman of the State Department, his country is pleased to see negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan continue. "As Secretary of State Blinken said, peace can be achieved in the South Caucasus. We recently expressed our gratitude for Prime Minister Pashinyan's commitment to peace," Miller's statement said.
It was noted that the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan will meet with their European partners in Chișinău at the end of this week. "We hope that will be a productive step to resolving these issues at the negotiating table and not through violence. Aggressive rhetoric can only perpetuate the violence of the past; constructive dialogue - both public and private - can create peace, opportunity, and hope. The United States stands ready to support the efforts of both parties to conclude a durable and dignified peace agreement," Miller said.
