Defense Official Attends Wassenaar Arrangement Briefing in Vienna
From June 16–17, Hamlet Batikyan, Secretary General of Armenia’s Defense Ministry, led a delegation to Vienna for a technical briefing on the Wassenaar Arrangement, which regulates military and dual-use product exports. Discussions with Kaifu Atsushi, President of the Wassenaar Arrangement, and Georgi Molnar, its Secretary, focused on deepening Armenia’s cooperation within the framework. Bilateral meetings with U.S. and French representatives addressed oversight of military-related products, aiming to strengthen regulatory collaboration.

Deputy Defense Minister at Paris Air Show
On June 19, Deputy Defense Minister Karen Brutyan led a delegation to the Paris Air Show (June 16–22) in La Bourget, France, at the invitation of the French Ministry of Armed Forces. The visit highlighted Armenia’s engagement in global defense exhibitions to explore military aviation advancements and foster international partnerships.

Border Incident in Syunik Province
On June 20, between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM local time, Azerbaijani forces fired on Nerkin Hand in Armenia’s Syunik Province, damaging a residential house but causing no casualties. Armenia urged Azerbaijan to investigate and provide a public explanation for the incident, reiterating its proposal for a joint mechanism to probe ceasefire violations, to which Azerbaijan has not yet responded.

Defense Minister’s Official Visit to Belarus
On June 16, Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov began an official visit to Belarus at the invitation of Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin. Welcomed at Minsk National Airport, Hasanov visited the Victory Monument on June 18, laying a wreath to honor fallen soldiers. A formal ceremony at the Belarusian Ministry of Defense included a Guard of Honor and national anthems. Bilateral talks covered regional security and enhanced military cooperation. Hasanov also toured the Military Academy of Belarus and the Air Force’s Central Command Post, receiving briefings on military education and operations.

Participation in Multinational Peacekeeping Exercise
On June 18, Azerbaijani troops joined the “Platinum Wolf – 2025” exercise in Serbia, alongside forces from the U.S., U.K., Bulgaria, and others. The drills, running until June 28, included live-fire exercises, urban warfare, crowd control, and first aid, aimed at improving multinational peacekeeping capabilities.

Joint Military Exercise with Türkiye
On June 21, officer cadets from Azerbaijan’s National Defense University and Türkiye’s National Defence University conducted a joint exercise in Istanbul. Focused on operational planning and modern weapon systems, the exercise involved the Operational-Tactical Faculty of Azerbaijan’s Military Administration Institute. High-ranking officials, including Türkiye’s Chief of General Staff Metin Gürak and Azerbaijan’s Colonel Elnur Alasgarli, attended the “Distinguished Visitors Day,” where the exercise’s success was praised.

Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Military Cooperation
On June 19, military experts from Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan met in Baku to discuss communications and information technologies. The talks covered server infrastructure, artificial intelligence applications, and bilateral cooperation, reinforcing technological ties between the two nations.

Georgia
Commander Attends U.S. Army Anniversary in Germany
On June 16, Giorgi Matiashvili, Commander of Georgia’s Defense Forces, attended the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army in Wiesbaden, Germany, at the invitation of U.S. Army Europe and Africa Commander Christopher Donahue. Matiashvili congratulated Donahue and discussed deepened U.S.-Georgia defense cooperation, expressing gratitude for U.S. support in modernizing Georgia’s military.

Military Police Marks 20th Anniversary
On June 16, Georgia’s Military Police celebrated its 20th anniversary at the Orkhevi eastern battalion assembly square. Defense Minister Irakli Chikovani and Commander Matiashvili commended the unit’s role in maintaining discipline and supporting combat missions. Major General Shalva Shengelia, head of the Military Police, honored personnel with awards, including state weapons and medals, recognizing their contributions to national and international exercises.
