Russian gas supplies to Armenia will be suspended from September 15 to 25 as Gazprom carries out scheduled maintenance on a pipeline inside Russia, Gazprom Armenia stated on September 14.

Armenia will rely on domestic gas reserves and additional supplies from Iran during the 10-day interruption, according to the Armenian subsidiary of Russia’s Gazprom. The company did not indicate that the suspension would affect consumers. The temporary halt comes as Armenia continues to rely heavily on Russian gas. About 82% of the country’s gas imports came from Russia last year. Iran is expected to provide additional volumes during the maintenance period, highlighting the role of the Iranian connection in helping Armenia maintain gas supplies when Russian deliveries are interrupted.

The suspension is temporary and tied to scheduled technical work, but it also underscores Armenia’s dependence on Russian energy alongside its growing use of alternative supply routes.
