Azerbaijan and Armenia Congratulate Ukraine on Independence Day; Zelenskyy Expresses Gratitude for Solidarity and Strategic Partnership Opportunities
On August 24, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sent congratulatory messages to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Ukraine’s Independence Day, emphasizing friendship, mutual respect, cooperation, and support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Azerbaijan
Ilham Aliyev sent a congratulatory letter to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day. In the letter, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan extended his "most sincere congratulations and best wishes to you and, through you, to all your people on my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan," emphasizing that Azerbaijani-Ukrainian interstate relations are rooted in the long-standing traditions of friendship, mutual respect, and deep sympathy shared between their peoples.
He stated that these relations, built on solid foundations, continue to evolve and are enriched with new dimensions, highlighting the importance of political dialogue and cooperation in the economic, transport, energy, and humanitarian spheres. Ilham Aliyev also noted that both countries demonstrate mutual support and solidarity regarding territorial integrity and sovereignty in line with international law and pledged that Azerbaijan would continue providing humanitarian assistance to the friendly people of Ukraine. He concluded by wishing President Zelenskyy "robust health, happiness, success in your endeavors, and peace and tranquility to the friendly people of Ukraine."
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s support. In a post on his X social media account, Zelenskyy stated: "I highly appreciate President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev's congratulations on Ukraine's Independence Day and his respect for Ukraine and Ukrainians. Dear President, Ukraine and Azerbaijan have always supported each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity. We are very thankful to friendly Azerbaijan for its humanitarian and other support. We look forward to developing our strategic partnership for the benefit of our nations."
Armenia
Nikol Pashinyan also sent a congratulatory message to Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day. In his message, Pashinyan stated, "I warmly congratulate Ukraine on the occasion of the national holiday, Independence Day. The relations between Armenia and Ukraine are based on the centuries-old friendship and mutual respect of our two peoples. Armenia is interested in developing mutually beneficial relations with Ukraine. I am hopeful that peace will soon reign in Ukraine, and in conditions of stability, by joint steps we will be able to give new impetus to the further development of interstate relations between Armenia and Ukraine based on mutual respect, for the benefit of our peoples. Taking this opportunity, I wish you, Your Excellency, good health and success, and lasting peace and stability to the friendly people of Ukraine."
On August 24, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, expressed gratitude to Vahagn Khachaturyan, the President of Armenia, and Nikol Pashinyan via a post on the social network X. Zelenskyy stated, "I thank President Khachaturyan for his congratulations on Ukraine’s Independence Day and for his kind words addressed to the Ukrainian people. Ukraine appreciates Armenia’s position on the territorial integrity of our state and the humanitarian aid provided to our country."
