Azerbaijan and China Commit to Increasing Daily Block Trains on Transport Corridors
On July 10, Azerbaijan and China agreed to intensify cooperation in the development of international transport corridors and cargo operations.
During the announcement, Azerbaijan Railways CJSC emphasized that a Memorandum of Understanding signed with China State Railway Corporation marked a significant step toward ensuring uninterrupted connectivity across Eurasia and injecting fresh momentum into relations between Baku and Beijing.
The agreement places particular emphasis on enhancing the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line, with both sides committing to strengthen transport links along this route, which connects Azerbaijan to Türkiye and onward to Europe. The BTK line is expected to expedite the delivery of Chinese goods to European markets via Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye.
Additionally, Azerbaijan Railways CJSC stated that the memorandum includes provisions for:
- Expanded cooperation in the joint development of railway infrastructure and port facilities.
- Increasing the number of daily block trains, with the goal of operating ten block trains per day along these corridors.
