
Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan Hold Naval Exercises in Caspian Sea; Iran Participates as Observer

According to the joint action plan signed between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, "Khazri-2023" joint tactical exercises are being held in Baku with the participation of warships and military personnel of the Naval Forces of both countries.
On October 2, the warships and military personnel of the Kazakh Naval Forces paid a visit to Baku to participate in the joint tactical exercises.
Commander of the Azerbaijan Naval Forces, Vice Admiral Subhan Bakirov, met with the delegation led by the Commander-in-Chief of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Rear Admiral Bekzhanov Saken.
Vice Admiral Bakirov welcomed the guests and expressed satisfaction with seeing them in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan Naval Forces Commander emphasized that the joint tactical exercises held in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea will greatly contribute to the mutual exchange of experience between the servicemen of both countries, further improving their professionalism and level of training.
On October 3, The "Khazri-2023" joint tactical exercises held in Azerbaijan with the participation of warships and servicemen of the Azerbaijani and Kazakh Naval Forces continued.
During the briefing held according to the training plan, the participants were given information on safety rules, tasks to be fulfilled, and their execution sequence, as well as other necessary aspects. Then, tasks on various episodes were worked out with the military personnel and warships of the Naval Forces of both countries, as well as combat interoperability between them was developed. It should be noted that the military personnel involved in the training exercises accomplished all the assigned tasks.
On October 4, the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran arrived in Baku to take part as an observer in the "Khazri-2023" Joint Tactical Exercises held in Azerbaijan with the participation of warships and servicemen of the Azerbaijani and Kazakh Naval Forces.
Subhan Bakirov met with a delegation led by the Operations Commander of the Iranian Naval Forces, Captain 1st Rank Mohammad Reza Khazai.
The importance of the "Khazri-2023" exercises was emphasized at the meeting hosted by the Azerbaijan Naval Forces’ headquarters. The sides noted the importance of holding joint exercises of the Azerbaijani-Iranian Naval Forces in the Caspian Sea in the future, and a preliminary agreement was reached in this regard.
The meeting discussed the prospects for developing cooperation in the military field between the naval forces of Azerbaijan and Iran.
On the same day, in accordance with the plan, a number of tasks were worked out in interoperability with other types of troops in the warships’ training areas.
