
Azerbaijan and US Discuss Prospects for Military Cooperation and Pilot Training

On April 13, Lieutenant General Ramiz Tahirov, the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Commander of the Air Force, who was on a visit to the US, met with Lieutenant General Marc H. Sasseville, the Vice Chief of the US National Guard Bureau, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported.
In the meeting attended by Khazar Ibrahim, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the US, the current state of military cooperation within the framework of the State Partnership Program, the further development of the work in this field, the training of military pilots, as well as other issues of mutual interest were exchanged.
On April 14, Ramiz Tahirov visited the US National Defense University as part of his visit to the United States of America. Getting acquainted with the university, Lieutenant Tahirov met with Lieutenant General Michael T. Plehn, the 17th President of the USA's National Defense University (NDU).
The sides exchanged views on studying the US military education system and NDU's experience in this field. Lieutenant General Tahirov gave detailed information about the newly established National Defense University in Azerbaijan.
The prospects for the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States in the field of military education and other issues of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting.
