
Azerbaijan Sees Boost in Sea Cargo Imports

From January to May this year, 861 million 409 thousand tons of cargo were transported to Azerbaijan by sea, marking a 16.9% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
During this period, the volume of cargo exported by sea transport amounted to 29,529 tons, which is 3.2% less than in the same period last year. Their value exceeded $46.8 million, reflecting a 40.9% decrease year-on-year. The volume of imported cargo amounted to 1 million 92 thousand 493 tons, a 0.8% decrease, but their value reached $814 million 557 thousand, a 21.4% increase.
In January-April this year, the volume of cargo transported along transport corridors passing through Azerbaijan totaled 10,723.6 thousand tons. Transit cargo accounted for 59.7%, or 6,403.7 thousand tons, of the cargo moved along these corridors.
