Iranian MFA: Azerbaijani People Should Be Afraid of Israel, Not Iran

On June 5, Nasser Kanaani, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, said that the people of Azerbaijan should be afraid of the "Zionist regime" (Israel) and not the civilized Muslim people of Iran.
The Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic of Iran condemned the anti-Iranian step of the Azerbaijani authorities, who earlier warned their citizens against traveling to a neighboring country. "This is the same policy adopted by the head of Israel’s fake, infanticide, and occupation regime during his recent trip to Baku," Kanani tweeted, referring to Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s visit to Azerbaijan.
"The visa-free regime for Azerbaijani brothers and sisters is still Iran's policy," the diplomat stressed. "The continuation of the neighborhood policy is our main priority, of course, within the framework of mutual respect for good neighborliness," he said.
As previously reported by Caucasus Watch, on June 3, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry urged its citizens not to visit Iran.
