Mother Armenia People Movement Created in Armenia

On May 28, the day of the First Republic of Armenia, the “Mother Armenia” people’s movement was established. The movement is characterized by its cross-party nature and involves representatives from various segments of society, including political scientists, economists, diplomats, sociologists, renowned intellectuals, lawyers, doctors, teachers, professors, IT specialists, journalists, bloggers, students, and representatives of small and medium businesses.
The movement's primary goal is to achieve unity and safeguard the national and state interests of Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh, and the Armenian people by changing the existing regime.
The movement members adopted a declaration that draws attention to various issues the current government failed to address. These include the growing dependence of the judiciary on the executive branch, the failure to effectively combat corruption, and the merging of business interests with the government, among other concerning phenomena. Additionally, it highlights the dire situation in Karabakh, emphasizing that it is on the brink of ‘complete destruction.' Concerns are raised about the ongoing detention of prisoners in the prisons of Baku, which has not yet been resolved.
“We urge to put aside party and group interests and to remove the anti-state regime through broad popular consolidation. In the current situation, a peaceful change of power is the only chance to make a historical change,” the declaration said.
