On March 20, Vladimir Delba, the de facto Acting Prime Minister of separatist Abkhazia, stated during a meeting on energy security that efforts to combat illegal electricity consumption and cryptocurrency mining would continue.

During the meeting, Acting First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Transport Dzhansukh Nanba reported that in 2024, authorities had identified 2,059 cryptocurrency mining devices, while in 2025, 93 machines had already been seized, according to the Interior Ministry. He acknowledged that progress had been made but emphasized, "The data we see on electricity consumption shows that cryptocurrency mining is still taking place in our country. We need to step up the fight."

Nanba also noted a decrease in average daily electricity consumption from 10 million kWh to 5.5 million kWh, attributing it to rising air temperatures, which reduced the use of additional heating equipment. He further stated that the Ministry of Energy and Transport, in cooperation with the State Standard, had drafted amendments to Article 212 of the RA Code of Administrative Offenses. The proposed changes, already submitted to parliament, would allow authorized bodies to destroy cryptocurrency mining equipment following a court decision on confiscation.
