On March 30, the de-facto South Ossetian parliament ratified a protocol between Russia and South Ossetia concerning the procedure for the republic's transition to applying the rates of the Eurasian Economic Union's Common Customs Tariff and the rates of customs duties in force in Russia.

Dmitry Volvach, Russia's Deputy Minister of Economic Development, recalled that integration processes in the customs sphere have been underway in Russia and South Ossetia since 2016, following the signing of a treaty on union and integration between the two countries.

Volvach emphasized that South Ossetia's transition to using the rates of the EAEU's Single Customs Tariff marks the final stage of implementing the common integration plan for the customs authorities of Russia and South Ossetia.

He further stated that applying common rules and standards in customs administration will not only alleviate the burden on businesses involved in import and export activities but will also strengthen the common socio-economic space between Russia and South Ossetia. "Additionally, Volvach highlighted that this integration will lead to a convergence of business conditions in Russia and South Ossetia, facilitating smoother business operations in both regions," the Russian Ministry of Economic Development noted.
