
United States Imposes Sanctions Against Heads of the Stavropol, Rostov, and Volgograd Regions

On December 15, the US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control imposed sanctions against the governors of 29 regions of Russia, including Vladimir Vladimirov, the head of Stavropol Territory, Vasily Golubev, the head of Rostov Region, and Andrey Bocharov, the head of Volgograd Region.
Moreover, Andrey Alekseenko, the ex-mayor of Krasnodar, who in November was appointed the de-facto head of government in the Russian occupation administration of the Kherson region and before that for some time headed the de-facto council of ministers in the occupation administration of the Kharkiv region, included in the sanctions list.
In addition, sanctions have been imposed on Andrey Belousov and Dmitry Chernyshenko, the Russian Deputy Prime Ministers, Vladimir Potanin, the head of Norilsk Nickel, and several of his close relatives, and several related businesses, including Rosbank and several VTB subsidiaries.
Earlier, on November 23, Caucasus Watch reported that the UK imposed sanctions on 22 high-ranking Russian officials for their involvement in the forced mobilization and encouragement of mercenaries.
