
Vladimir Putin Visits Dagestan

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who arrived on June 28 in Dagestan, was given a tour of Derbent.
First, Putin was given a tour of the Naryn-Kala citadel above the city, then the president, the head of the republic, Sergey Melikov, the mayor of Derbent, Rustambek Pirmaomedov, and other officials went down to the oldest Derbent mosque in Russia.
Vladimir Putin asked Sergey Melikov to prepare materials about Derbent for UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. According to him, Putin made such a promise to his Arab colleague at a meeting within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. "I promised the President of the United Arab Emirates at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum meeting to send materials on Derbent, on these historical places. I ask you to prepare and direct," the president of Russia addressed the head of Dagestan.
Sergey Melikov, commenting on the order, noted that the materials would reflect the city's historical facet and current projects. Melikov said that no person in Dagestan would not support his decisions regarding June 24.
"I had no doubts about the reaction in Dagestan and throughout the country," the president replied.
